Program Overview

Tiered Internship Model

Tier 1- Undergraduate Internship Track

Open to junior and senior undergraduate students, this track provides a scoped, task-based entry into research operations. Interns are placed in one of ARCMTS’s service verticals and support efforts such as documentation, inventory tracking, or workflow testing. Weekly check-ins and structured reflections help students build confidence and workplace fluency. Interns complete a final reflection and receive a resume-ready summary of their contributions. This track serves as a pipeline into the graduate internship experience.

Tier 2- Graduate Internship Track

Graduate and PhD students assume deeper responsibilities, work independently on complex tasks, and produce capstone deliverables aligned with organizational goals. This track includes personalized goal setting, midterm evaluation, peer collaboration, and final presentations. Interns are treated as operational collaborators and gain direct experience in leadership, strategic thinking, and systems support.

Internship Experience

Students are matched to projects that strengthen core technical and operational skills while directly supporting research infrastructure. From workflow documentation and data auditing to process improvement and internal reporting, each assignment builds real-world experience that prepares students for roles in research operations, business management, and technical services.

Capstone Project and Presentation

Interns complete a capstone project that addresses a real ARCMTS need. Deliverables may include visual dashboards, process improvements, or internal reports. Projects are presented to ARCMTS leadership at the end of the semester. Exit interviews, final evaluations, and resume coaching prepare students for next steps in their future.
